Foreign Aid
Foreign governments receive over $14 billion each year as a gift from us
The distribution of foreign aid is currently decided by governmental
bureaucrats. I believe that contributions to foreign governments and
foreign citizens should be voluntarily made by U.S. citizens. I propose
that we end the direct
budgeting of loans or grants to other countries by
the U.S. Congress.
If the federal income tax code remains, U.S. taxpayers
should be allowed to specify on their
tax returns the dollar amounts they
would like to allocate for foreign aid.
Position Highlights
- Foreign aid should be voluntary
- Voluntary foreign aid eliminates its use for political strategy
- Voluntary foreign ends the potential for governmental corruption
