Credit card companies are increasingly resistant to interest rate and payment plan negotiations with consumers.  Consumers with payment problems often must turn to third parties (consumer credit counseling services) to resolve payment issues.

Consumer Credit Credit companies must be strongly held accountable for their decisions regarding to whom they choose to extend credit.  However, those who accept a credit card need to have their feet held to the fire criminally if they abuse the privelege.  Accountability on both sides is required if sanity is to be returned to the industry.  29 Sep 2002
